ANOTHER FORGOTTEN BUILDING

Updated: May 25, 2018

This house has watched Carabanchel’s history. It’s located in Camino Viejo de Leganés Street, nº 100 B and inside it and around, generations of families, shops, jobs and dreams have grown up. Today, a lonely photo booth is the only thing working in this big house located in one of the most commercial zones in the neighborhood.

Inside it still remains the trash of its before guests as homeware, old furniture and broken newspaper pages. A house full of stories but unknown for many of the commercials of the place, seen only as an obstacle for future building projects.

A lot of the shop assistants think it is a lot of junk that obstacles the normal activities. That’s why they have asked the authorities to do something with it and let the place for recreational activities or for commercial ends. So no one makes a response for it, not their owners or inheritor. The neighbors have different opinions, some of them want it to be cultural patrimony and other just want to demolish it.

The building is controversial, but the solution is in authorities and neighborhood association hands. This is another case falling into the forgotten list.
